School Preparation in Almaty
School preparation at the BOZKA education centre is a comprehensive program for preschool children. It covers six areas and prepares a child not only for first grade, but for school as a whole.
Classes run at three locations in Almaty, in Kazakh-language and Russian-language groups. The format is chosen around the family's schedule: full day, mornings or afternoons, three times a week, or Saturdays.
The six areas of the program
The program covers six key areas.
Mathematics
We build a solid mathematical foundation and a genuine interest in the subject. Children learn to:
- count and determine quantities
- compare numbers and magnitudes
- understand how numbers are composed
- carry out simple arithmetic
- orient themselves in space and time
- solve simple word problems
- reason and explain how they reached an answer
Logic
Logic tasks help a child analyse information and find solutions. In class we develop:
- logical thinking
- attention
- memory
- the ability to compare and classify
- pattern recognition
- spatial thinking
- the ability to connect ideas and draw conclusions
- confidence with non-standard problems
Reading
We build reading that is fluent and understood, not merely decoded. The program covers:
- sounds and letters
- sound-and-letter analysis
- reading syllables
- reading words and sentences
- reading fluency
- comprehension
- answering questions about a text
- retelling a story
Writing
We prepare the child's hand for writing and build the graphic skills it requires. We develop:
- fine motor skills
- coordination of movement
- correct pencil grip
- hand-eye coordination
- neatness
- the ability to complete graphic exercises
- writing letter shapes, letters, syllables and words
Speech and language development
Language development is an area of its own. A child learns to express thoughts clearly and in order, to understand questions and to build their own statements. We:
- expand vocabulary
- practise building correct sentences
- develop connected speech
- make up stories from pictures
- describe objects and events
- develop the ability to retell
- practise answering questions in full sentences
- develop conversational speech
- build communication skills
The world around us
These lessons broaden a child's outlook and feed their curiosity about the world. We explore:
- the human body
- family and relationships between people
- nature
- the seasons
- plants and animals
- the environment
- safety rules
- the objects and phenomena of the world around us
Why parents choose Bozka for school preparation
A comprehensive program
We develop a child across several areas at once: mathematics, logic, reading, writing, language development and the world around us. That way a child arrives at school with genuine all-round readiness, not isolated pieces of knowledge.
A professional teaching approach
We work with the developmental stage preschoolers are actually at, and we know that teaching has to be sequential, accessible and interesting.
We develop thinking, not just knowledge
Children learn to analyse, compare, reason, find solutions and work through a task on their own.
We build study skills
We pay particular attention to helping a child learn to:
- listen to and understand instructions
- hold their attention
- work independently
- follow a sequence of steps
- complete work neatly
- see a task through to the end
- take mistakes calmly and correct them
A comfortable learning environment
We work to create an atmosphere where a child feels calm and confident, is not afraid of making mistakes, and gradually develops an appetite for learning.
An individual approach
Children join us with different levels of knowledge and preparation, so we work with each child's own pace, their strengths and the areas they need to grow.
Classes in Kazakh and Russian
Bozka runs groups in both Kazakh and Russian. The format is chosen around the child's language environment and what the family needs.
How the lessons work
We teach so that a child understands the material and can apply it, rather than memorising it. Lessons use a mix of task types, thinking exercises, work with texts, practical tasks and playful, exploratory elements. Tasks grow more demanding as the child's level grows.
Study formats
We know every family keeps its own schedule, so Bozka lets you choose the format that fits yours.
Full day (Monday – Friday)
A complete format for children who spend the whole day at the centre. Lessons are combined with rest, enrichment activities and a structured daily routine.
Morning or afternoon (Monday – Friday)
For children who prefer to attend in the first or the second half of the day.
Three times a week
Regular school preparation for families for whom daily attendance does not work. Lessons follow a system, so a child works through the program step by step.
Saturday school preparation
A dedicated format for families who prefer one session a week, on Saturdays — a way to keep studying regularly even with a full weekday schedule.
The results we work towards
By the time school starts, a child has the foundation they need for what comes next:
- knows the letters and reads at a level appropriate to their preparation
- understands what they have read
- has a grasp of basic mathematical concepts
- can solve simple problems
- can reason and work through logic tasks
- is prepared for writing
- expresses their thoughts clearly and in order
- has enough vocabulary for conversation and study
- has a basic understanding of the world around them
- listens to the teacher and follows instructions
- can concentrate on a task
- is becoming steadily more independent and organised
- feels more confident about starting first grade
Our aim is to prepare a child not simply for first grade, but for succeeding at school. We want a child to arrive in first grade with the knowledge they need, with study skills already formed and — most importantly — with confidence in themselves and curiosity about learning.
Bozka is where a confident path to school begins.
